Blue Tees Golf Captain Pro

The Blue Tees Captain Pro is a rechargeable 7x laser rangefinder with a multi-color OLED display, an IP67 rating and a link to the Blue Tees GAME app.

Why it made the list

Blue Tees built the Captain Pro around the things that annoy golfers about older lasers: dead CR2 batteries, foggy screens and lasers that quit in the rain. It charges over USB-C, uses a multi-color OLED display with brightness control and carries an IP67 rating for dust and water.

It also pairs with the GAME app over Bluetooth, which turns it into a laser and a GPS in one device. The listed price is $299.99.

What it does well

• Flag Lock confirms with vibration when the laser picks up the pin, so you know you are reading the flag and not the trees behind it.
• The GAME app gives front, center and back GPS distances and comes preloaded with over 42,000 courses.
• Shot tracking in the app lets you review your round afterward.
• Find My tracking over Bluetooth helps you locate the rangefinder if you leave it on a cart.
• A heavy-duty magnetic strip holds it to a cart bar.

With a GAME AI subscription you also get club recommendations, Scout AI Caddie and advanced analytics.

Who it’s for

This suits golfers who play in wet weather and want a laser that shrugs off rain, plus app-based club suggestions. If you already use your phone for stats, the GAME app keeps distances and tracking in one place.

Who should skip it

The AI features need a GAME AI subscription. Carl’s Golfland lists one year included, then $49.99 per year after. If you only want basic yardages and no ongoing cost, a simpler laser makes more sense.

Key specs, explained

Range goes up to 1,200 yards, though flag distances are shorter in practice; Blue Tees does not publish a flag range. At 231 g, or about 8.1 oz, it is light enough for a pocket. IP67 means dust-tight and able to survive being dropped in shallow water, which is a step beyond the splash ratings on many lasers.

How it compares

The Bushnell A1-Slope also costs $299.99 and recharges over USB-C, but weighs just 5.1 oz, is rated IPX6 and has no Bluetooth or app link. The Shot Scope Pro L5 costs $229.99 with 7x magnification, but runs on a CR2 battery and has no published IP rating. The Captain Pro is the pick if you want the app and the best water rating.

Good to know

It has a tour-ready slope button that turns slope off. Under the Rules of Golf, distance-measuring devices are allowed unless a local rule bans them, but slope must be off in competition. Blue Tees backs it with a warranty of 2 years. Battery life per charge is not published, so charge it before a round.
