Maxfli Tour Golf Balls (Dozen)

The Maxfli Tour is a $39.99 cast urethane ball sold at DICK’S and Golf Galaxy that MyGolfSpy named a Great Buy for fast swing speeds in its 2026 test.

Why it made the list

Maxfli is the house golf ball brand of DICK’S Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy, and the Tour is its answer to the Pro V1 for $18 less a dozen. In MyGolfSpy’s 2026 test of 48 balls, as reported by BallCaddie, it spun 5,630 rpm on a 35 yard wedge, 12th of the field, so it stops on greens like a far pricier ball. MyGolfSpy named it a Great Buy for fast swing speeds and its best first urethane ball for a new golfer who swings hard.

What it does well

• A cast urethane cover gives a soft feel, more greenside spin and good durability for a urethane ball.
• The high speed mantle layer adds ball speed off the tee while helping control spin on approach shots.
• Maxfli balances each ball’s center of gravity, a patented step meant to keep flight and roll consistent from ball to ball.
• The Polyhedron 318 dimple design is built for a stable flight and good distance.

Who it’s for

It suits golfers who swing 100 mph or more, mid and low handicappers who want tour spin without tour prices, and improving amateurs who have broken 90 and want their wedges to stop.

Who should skip it

Slower swingers should pass. The Maxfli Tour is firm, around 90 compression, and it ranked 41st of 48 for driver distance at 86 mph in MyGolfSpy’s test. Golfers in that range get more from the Srixon Q-Star Tour. MyGolfSpy’s Ball Lab also graded its consistency a B minus, with 2 bad balls in a 36 ball sample, which is fine for the price but below the top tour balls.

Key specs, explained

Three piece construction adds a mantle between core and cover, which lets the ball spin less off the driver and more on wedges. Cast urethane is the cover type used on most tour balls, softer and grippier than the ionomer on value balls. A compression near 90 means it needs real speed to load fully, which is why it shines at fast swing speeds and fades at slow ones.

How it compares

The Srixon 2026 Q-Star Tour Golf Balls (Dozen) also costs $39.99 and is softer at 74 compression, the better urethane choice for average swings. The Titleist Pro V1 Golf Balls (Dozen) costs about $58 and is the benchmark tour ball. The Maxfli Tour gives fast swingers most of that performance for less.

Good to know

Golf Galaxy was running a two for $70 offer on Maxfli Tour balls in early November, and it sells a 48 ball pack with a free dozen included. A Tour X version is firmer and built for faster swings, and a Max Align version adds an alignment stripe. The white dozen is linked here.
