- Best accuracy score (9.5) and second overall in MyGolfSpy's 2026 wedge test
- Forged 1020 carbon steel with a raw finish and no offset
- Four grinds and 11 lofts from 46 to 62 degrees, built to order
Why it made the cut
The SPN V3 is a raw forged wedge from direct-to-consumer brand New Level Golf, and it posted the best accuracy score in MyGolfSpy’s 2026 wedge test.
Why it made the list
New Level sells online from Scottsdale, Arizona, and says it spends on research and development rather than marketing. In MyGolfSpy’s 2026 test of 56° wedges, it finished second overall with a 9.1. Its accuracy score of 9.5 was the best of any wedge, and it scored 8.6 for consistency and 8.7 for spin. Accuracy was measured on full swings and on 50-yard shots in both dry and wet conditions.
The testers also noted that it held up in wet conditions better than earlier New Level wedges. At $149 a club, it costs about $50 less than most big-brand wedges.
What it does well
- Scored 9.5 for accuracy, the top mark in MyGolfSpy’s 2026 wedge test
- Is forged from 1020 carbon steel with a raw finish on every loft
- Has no offset or hosel notch, so the hosel and leading edge line up at address
- Uses grooves that New Level says are pushed to the USGA limit on groove proximity
In the higher lofts, New Level added weight to the top of the head to help control launch while keeping spin high. Every grind also has a pre-worn leading edge.
Who it’s for
Buy it if you want tight distance control around the green and don’t need a big-brand name on the club. It also suits golfers who like to custom build: you can choose the shaft, grip, length, lie and loft when you order.
Who should skip it
Skip it if you want a wedge that stays shiny. The raw face and head will rust and weather over time, and New Level asks you to confirm you understand that before you buy. Skip it too if you want to return clubs that don’t suit you, since New Level does not take returns on custom-built clubs.
Key specs, explained
There are four grinds and 11 lofts from 46° to 62°. The S grind runs from 46° to 54° with 10° of bounce and suits tight lies and firm turf. The C grind, in 56° to 60°, has 8° of bounce with heel, toe and trailing edge relief so it sits low. The V grind, in 58° and 60°, adds a bit more heel relief and bounce (10°) for more forgiveness. The L grind is a wide K-style sole with 6° of bounce in 60° and 62°, and New Level warns it can feel diggy for players with a lot of forward lean. Lie is 64° on most models.
How it compares
The Maxfli XCW Wedge is about $20 less, is also forged and had the best consistency score in the same test. The Callaway JAWS Raw Chrome 58° Lob Wedge is a raw-face option from a major brand. Choose the SPN V3 if accuracy on partial shots is your top priority.
Good to know
Standard builds ship within 10 business days, and a rush option ships within two. New Level discounts orders of three or more wedges. You can also buy the head alone if you have a shaft you like. Shipping goes by UPS, or you can pick up at the Scottsdale office.
Questions about the New Level SPN V3
Does the New Level SPN V3 rust?
Yes, the raw finish will rust and weather over time. If you want a wedge that keeps its shine, choose a plated finish from another brand.
Where can I buy the New Level SPN V3?
You buy it direct from New Level Golf’s website. Each wedge is built to order with the shaft and grip you choose.
Which SPN V3 grind should I pick?
Start with the C grind for a sand or lob wedge, since it covers 56° to 60°. Pick the S grind for gap wedges and the V grind if you want a little more bounce.
