PING Rolling Travel Cover

The PING Rolling Travel Cover folds down to 9.5 inches tall, which makes it the easiest travel cover on our list to store at home.

Why it made the list

A travel bag spends most of its life in a closet, and big covers eat space. PING’s answer folds from 53 inches tall to just 9.5 inches, a package that slides under a bed or onto a closet shelf. Open, it’s a thickly padded cover that PING says protects everything from carry bags to full-size cart bags.

It also rolls differently from most covers. Instead of a wheel kit, it uses interlocking skid rails on the bottom that roll smoothly over curbs, and PING says it moves whether you keep it upright or tilt it back.

What it does well

• Folds to 17 x 14 x 9.5 inches, the smallest storage size on our list
• Skid rails roll over curbs with the bag upright or tilted
• Six handles let you grab it from any angle
• A 1200D polyester front panel adds abrasion resistance where the bag gets dragged
• Internal pockets hold shoes and soft items

The fold is what you’ll notice most. If you live in an apartment or share a garage, it’s the cover that won’t take over a corner.

Who it’s for

It suits golfers who travel a few times a year, live with limited storage and want solid padding without the bulk of a hard case. It’s a good fit for anyone who takes the bag on a mix of flights and road trips.

Who should skip it

Skip it if you face long airport walks often. Skid rails roll over curbs well, but true wheels are smoother on a long concourse. PING doesn’t publish a weight for it, so if you need an exact empty weight to plan your packing, pick a cover that lists one.

Key specs, explained

Open, the cover measures 17 x 14 x 53 inches. The front panel is 1200D polyester, a heavier fabric than the 600D polyester on the sides, so the face that slides along the belt and floor is the tougher one. The six handles help when you lift it into a car trunk or off a baggage belt.

How it compares

The Sun Mountain Kube Travel Cover also folds small and lists a 6.8 pound weight, but it relies on wheels. The Bag Boy T-10 Hard Top Travel Cover folds its soft body inside a hard ABS top and rolls on in-line skate wheels. Choose the PING if storage size comes first.

Good to know

PING lists the cover at $390 on its US site, and Carl’s Golfland had it for $279.99 when we checked, down from a regular price of $349.99. Retail prices move often, so the product card shows the current price. PING doesn’t list a warranty on the product page.
