The verdict

Why it made the cut

The Stix C02 Compete is a full 14-club set with an adjustable carbon driver, a 3-wood, a 4-hybrid, 4-iron to pitching wedge, 52, 56 and 60-degree wedges, a mallet putter and a stand bag for $1,599.

Why it made the list

This is the only set on our beginner list that fills the bag to the 14-club limit. You get every club you will need for years, including three wedges and a 4-iron, so there is nothing left to add as you improve.

Stix updated the set for 2026 with a new carbon-crown fairway wood and hybrid that adjust for loft and lie, and a redesigned wedge family. Its irons won MyGolfSpy awards for Best for Accuracy and Best for Value. In MyGolfSpy’s 5-set test, the tester said the Stix wedges “are the best of anything I tested.”

What it does well

  • An adjustable carbon and titanium driver with a Denali Frost graphite shaft
  • A fairway wood and hybrid with adjustable loft and lie through a V hosel
  • Two-piece hollow-body irons with an AM355P steel face for faster ball speed
  • Milled 52, 56 and 60-degree wedges with a finish rated for 5,000 swings
  • PU leather headcovers for the driver, wood, hybrid and putter

Adjustability is rare in a complete set. Being able to change loft and lie on the woods lets you tune ball flight as your swing changes, which helps a set last longer.

Who it’s for

The C02 Compete suits serious beginners who know they will play a lot and want to spend once. It also fits returning golfers and athletic new players with some swing speed, since the flex choices go up to Extra Stiff. Golfers who like a clean, all-black look will like the design.

Who should skip it

Skip it if you are only trying golf; $1,599 is a lot for a first set you may not use. Left-handed golfers can’t buy it, since Stix lists right-handed only. MyGolfSpy also found the ball flight ran lower than the Callaway XR set, so golfers who need help getting the ball up may do better with a higher-launching set.

Key specs, explained

The driver has 9 degrees of loft and adjusts from 8 to 10 degrees. That is less loft than most beginner drivers, so new players with slower swings may want to set it at 10. The 3-wood is 16 degrees and the 4-hybrid is 21 degrees. The irons run from a 22-degree 4-iron to a 46-degree pitching wedge.

The irons and wedges use 120-gram steel shafts. The 3-wood shaft is about 66 grams of graphite and the hybrid about 65 grams. Hollow-body irons have an empty space behind the face, which lets the face flex more at impact for extra ball speed.

How it compares

The Callaway Men’s XR 13-Piece Complete Set costs $100 less, launches the ball higher and comes in left-handed, but it has 12 clubs and two hybrids in place of the long irons. The Vice Golf Boost Plus Complete Set (Men’s) costs $899 and has two wedges after the pitching wedge. Choose the Stix for a full 14-club bag with adjustable woods.

Good to know

Stix offers Regular, Stiff and Extra Stiff flex in Standard length, and a Tall version that adds half an inch is listed in Extra Stiff. Shipping is free on complete sets in the contiguous US, and Stix says orders usually ship in 1 to 3 business days. The clubs carry a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
